Water quantity vulnerability indicators

The data set estimates the vulnerability index for the Water Survey of Canada’s HYDAT gauges in the Southwestern Hudson Bay and the Nelson River watershed systems in Ontario.

These values are useful for:

  • land use planning
  • water quantity management
  • climate change studies

Since 2010, the Provincial Mapping Unit of the Ministry of Natural Resources produced a series of hydrology and climate statistics data sets for the Southwestern Hudson Bay and Nelson River watershed systems.

This information:

  • is pivotal to hydrologic modelling that estimates risks of specific land use activities in conjunction with climate change
  • helps inform sustainable water resource management in the Far North region
