Assessment files

Assessment files are reports submitted by exploration companies and prospectors to describe exploration work they have done on mining claims. Claim holders must submit these reports to the Government of Ontario to maintain the rights to mining claims. Reports contain descriptions of the exploration history and geology of the area, and the type of work performed. Some examples of exploration work are airborne and ground geophysics, geological mapping, geochemistry, and diamond drilling. Reports also contain the results of exploration work, like drill logs, assay results, and geological maps.
