Incident Type
Useful notes about the file. The Incident Type dataset contains all the incident types that were selected for each Inmate Incident Report (IIR) in the Use of Force Incidents dataset. There are up to 15 incident types, based on the selected responses.
The dataset contains the following information:
- The Incident ID that allows linking to the Use of Force Incidents, Inmate-to-Incidents and Staff-to-Incidents datasets in the “Use of Force in Correctional Institutions" group of datasets.
- The incident type(s)
Note: This dataset may be updated periodically to reflect new submissions, amendments or corrections. For details on data updates and version history, please consult the available metadata such as data dictionary and supporting documentation.

2023 data as of December 15, 2024.
2024 data as of March 5, 2025.
The dataset follows the UTF-8 encoding standard.
