The Ontario government had the first publicly funded art collection in Canada. It dates back from 1853, and currently holds over 2,700 original works of art.
Artwork samples have only been included when:
- copyright permission has been granted by the artist or artist's estate
- the artwork is in the public domain
- the artwork is under Crown copyright
